CoolSculpting uses a proprietary technology called Cryolipolysis™ to destroy fat cells through a carefully controlled cooling process. Fat cells are frozen at a higher temperature than surrounding tissue or skin, so by cooling the treatment area to the precise temperature, the fat cells are destroyed without damage to other tissue. The cells break down and are harmlessly eliminated by the body’s natural metabolic processes.
At Moradi MD, we use CoolSculpting as a liposuction alternative, to produce measurable fat reduction in areas such as the abdomen, waist, flanks, arms and thighs. Good candidates for this treatment are healthy individuals who are at or near their ideal weight, but have localized areas of resistant fat.
The CoolSculpting® Procedure
This procedure requires no anesthesia, no needles, and no incisions, so you should be able to relax as you lie back for your 1 to 2 hour treatment. The applicator is applied to each site for one hour; most treatments involve two sites: the left side and the right side. The precisely controlled cooling is delivered to the fat layer while the skin is simultaneously protected. There is only mild discomfort during the first few minutes of the treatment as the tissue is drawn into the applicator and cooled.
Results will emerge over a period of 2 to 4 months; at that time, you and Dr. Moradi can discuss whether more treatments would be advantageous.
