IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) photo rejuvenation involves a device that emits light energy into the second layer of your skin (dermis) without harming the surface (epidermis). The light energy is absorbed by the pigment cells in the skin in order to remove hyperpigmented areas, including freckles, age spots, reddened skin, and other flaws.

What is the IPL procedure like to experience?

IPL photo rejuvenation is a non-invasive procedure delivered by one of our talented, certified medical aesthetics team. The device emits light pulses, targeting specific skin issues without significantly affecting the skin surface. For your comfort, a numbing gel or cream is applied before the treatment. You will be equipped with eyewear to protect your eyes from the bright light flashes of energy emitted by the device.

Laser skin therapy for vascular skin conditions

Moradi MD is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to address and treat all skin issues. In addition to our IPL treatment device, we offer a range of options for total skin rejuvenation:

VBeam

Moradi MD is proud to offer patients VBeam laser skin therapy – a facial rejuvenation option that provides treatment for mild vascular conditions, such as rosacea, vascular lesions, warts, and more. The VBeam technology is referred to as a vascular laser because it targets and dilates the blood vessels, addressing the red blood cells that cause pigmentation issues. The laser is a combination of both pulsed light and dye that are delivered simultaneously, shooting different colored light beams into the treated area to normalize skin hue. This is particularly effective on rosacea or reddened scars.

PDT

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a treatment that uses photosensitizing light and a special chemical (drug) to treat certain skin conditions, such as acne or certain skin cancers, by destroying the blood vessels under the skin. PDT is performed during a short office visit and is successful because of its precise targeting of the affected areas. The chemical agent is first applied, and then the light is used to target and activate the medication. This procedure is also called a “blue light” treatment.

What is an IPL photo rejuvenation treatment like to experience?

An IPL treatment requires only about 20 minutes or less, depending on how many areas of the skin need treatment. Most patients will require a series of sessions to achieve evenly toned, rejuvenated skin. While the area to be treated will be numbed, you can expect a minor snapping, stinging sensation on your skin, which is not unreasonably uncomfortable.

Preparing for your IPL treatment

It is recommended that patients scheduled for an IPL photo treatment refrain from tanning and excessive sun exposure for a month prior. There are also medications that must be avoided for a few weeks before treatment, such as minocycline, tetracycline, doxycycline, and Retin-A/Renova.

When will I see results?

You will see some improvements in skin quality following your treatment, but IPL photo rejuvenation requires time to enjoy the full results. With a series of IPL treatments, typically three to seven, you will achieve the optimal outcome within several months: smooth, more youthful, evenly toned skin.
