Spider veins form when the valves in blood vessels weaken, causing them to enlarge over time. At Moradi MD, we use the Gentle YAG laser to remove visible veins for the long term. The laser energy, when focused on a specific spider vein, causes it to collapse. The blood is rerouted naturally to a deeper blood vessel. The treated vein is slowly absorbed by the body.

For exceptional outcomes in spider vein removal, choose Moradi MD

Deep penetration with minimal scattering of laser energy makes Gentle YAG laser therapy ideal for all skin types, including tanned or dark skin. Thanks to the pulse durations and multiple spot sizes, the Gentle YAG leg and facial vein treatment outstrip the results of other treatment devices. Thus, it is the only laser of its kind patented and cleared by the FDA to treat veins.

What is the treatment like to experience?

Before the treatment begins, your eyes are protected with specialized eyewear. Once you are ready, the laser handpiece is passed over areas with visible veins. The Gentle YAG laser system applies multiple wavelengths of light, which are absorbed by the blood vessel, rendering it unable to carry blood. The flowing blood is naturally rerouted to a deeper blood vessel. Discomfort during the Gentle YAG laser treatment is controlled with ice packs or the application of a topical anesthetic cream before the procedure.

What is the recovery time?

After the treatment is complete, you are free to return home with instructions for your aftercare. Compression stockings or support hose are recommended for patients who had spider vein removal on the legs. These should be worn for about one week.

Strenuous exercise will need to be avoided for the first week, though walking is encouraged. In order to achieve optimal results, three to six treatment sessions, performed every six to eight weeks, may be required. As the vein is reabsorbed into the system, the skin becomes clear and free from the blue, purple, or red spider veins.
